sports-barrier-bigWhat is a Spectator Barrier?

A spectator barrier is a series of specially designed poles that can be fixed into soft surfaces and when used in conjunction with the rope system forms a portable barrier that can be used to create designated spectator area for use in a variety of sports & events.

Why do I need one?

The Football Association has requested that all clubs have a designated spectator area within all amateur football matches. Barrier systems have been used in recent years [predominantly in football] as a way of keeping supporters off the field of play. The benefits of using this barrier system mean that there is more room on the touchline area for match officials, linesmen and coaching staff as well as providing a safer playing area for participants. Barriers also promote a more professional environment for both players and spectators.

Does having one make a difference?

The answer is yes, recent research by the Football Association concluded that there was a significant improvement in both player and spectator behaviour when games were conducted with a barrier in place. There has also been a dramatic rise in the number of people training to be referees since the launch of the barrier system in conjunction with the Respect programme 3 years ago

What makes this barrier different to others that are available?

The GRXPRO barrier has been designed with the players, match officials, spectators and club staff and environment conditions in mind. It had to be safe for the players, accepted by the spectators, be capable of simple installation by club staff and have the capability to be used in most weather conditions. The end result is a safe and durable product that has improved stability to that of its’ competitors due to its wide stabilising foot plate. In addition, its vibrant appearance combined with the innovative quick reel system makes using and installing the product a trouble free experience.

Can I use anything else as an alternative?

Yes, in the case of football the Football Association does not stipulate a specific barrier or method of ‘zoning off’ the field of play. Their recommendation is that anything from a painted line to plastic cones can be used. However, from our research a number of clubs were using wooden stakes or metal spikes which can be potentially dangerous due to their materials and pose a risk to player’s safety in the event of a collision. The GRXPRO product is constructed purely from durable plastic and has no sharp edges or parts that can cause injury in normal usage.

Is it safe for children or in grass roots sports?

All components used within the barrier system have been tested to ensure they are durable and safe. The product is made purely out of plastic manufactured to specific quality standards. There are no metal parts used in this product. Please refer to instructions when installing the product.

Is it easy to install?

Yes, the complete 10 pole system can be installed in under 5 minutes by a single person. No specialist tools are required.

Can the barriers be used in all sports?

The GRXPRO barrier system has been designed to be non sports specific and can be used within a multitude of sports including; football, rugby, athletics, cross country, golf or at any outdoor event that is played on soft surfaces or where spectators are present.

How many kits do I need?

Kits come in 1 pack size and comprise of 10 poles and 2 x 60 metres of high visibility rope which in the case of football is enough to cover both sided of a junior pitch or 1 full side of a senior pitch. For events where larger spectator numbers are expected it is recommended that additional poles are used as this reduced the distance or ‘span’ between poles creating a more rigid barrier.

Can I use the barriers in all weather conditions?

The barriers have been designed to cope with most weather conditions from soggy wet ground to dry solid ground, to assist with installation in very hard or frozen ground it is recommended that a Ground Preparation Tool is used which helps inserting the poles into the ground easier with less risk of damaging the poles.

Regular cleaning of the product if used in muddy conditions is recommended although not necessary and will not affect its performance

Does the product need any maintenance?

No, due to the wipe clean materials used the product is relatively maintenance free. The product should be installed and stored in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the instructions, which will improve the overall life in service of the product.

Can the barriers be used on Astroturf or solid surfaces?

No, the system is designed for soft surface conditions and due to its design must be inserted into the ground.

Can the barrier poles be branded?

Yes, a lot of clubs use the poles to act as advertising space for club badges or sponsors logos. Stickers can be applied to the poles or for larger orders the barrier kits can be fully customised to your requirements. See sales agents for more details or view the GRXPRO catalogue on the website.

Is the Barrier covered by a guarantee?

Yes, a 6 month guarantee covers all parts subject to normal use.
